HARD WORK ALL THE WAY WITH 2 CLIMBS SEPARATED BY A DESCENT TO THE APTLY NAMED FOLLY. THE FIRST 200 YARDS ARE ON THE ROAD. THE REST IS ACROSS COUNTRY AND FINISHES DOWN HILL. THE CHANGEOVER IS AT BREACH WOOD BARN (GR753039) THE RUNNERS WILL EMERGE FROM THE PATH THROUGH THE WOOD.

  1. Carry on the same line up the farm road. Turn right onto the concrete track and then pass between the house and the barn to three gates side by side.
  2. Go through the right hand gate and turn right, signed 'Dorset Gap'. Follow the edge of the field up to a little gate. Emerge on to a bank. Look out for a left fork down the side of the bank to take you to the 'Dorset Gap'.

  3. The required route at this mediaeval 'spaghetti junction' is a high track half left signposted to Folly. (if training, sign the visitors book in the green wooden box at the right-hand side of the track.)
  4. Run up the cutting for 100 yards then fork left on to a lesser path with awkward edges, which merges with a larger track before reaching a gate.

  5. Straight up via another small gate to pass a small water tower. On reaching the hedge line (caution its easy to overshoot this turning!),
    6. turn right and follow the path between the hedges  down to a track where you turn right own to a track to the road crossing at Folly.

  6. Cross the road and continue along the track which narrows to a steep path climbing to reach a gate.

  7. Carry on along the right-hand edge of 2 fields to enter a wood via a stile by a gate. Veer right and continue to the 'open access area'- a large field. Go straight on, skirting a dew-pond and earth works. Then drift right towards the hedge and follow this on its left hand side to leave the field by a gate in front.

  8. Follow the track down past Church Hill barn. At the gateway beyond, curve left with the track.
    9. After 150 yards turn right towards a gate in the hedge. Do not go through this gate but
    turn left down a narrow defile on the left hand side of the hedge. Go through a gate and run down the right-hand hedge which brings you via a field and gate to a road. CAUTION EMERGING ONTO THE ROAD Turn left along the road for 50 yards and turn right into a track to the changeover point. (GR697033)
